In a ceremony at the Palace of Parliament after 15.00 local time (18.00 GMT), Fernandez, 54, will hand the presidency of her husband, Néstor Kirchner, an unprecedented event in the South American country. Prior to the ceremony, the outgoing president and his wife received international delegations to a dinner held at the San Martin Palace, former seat of the Foreign Ministry of Argentina, north of Buenos Aires. The coincidence of presidents and senior officials will make the transfer of power ceremony a true summit, dozens of bilateral meetings and agreed on the relevant issues region, as the conflict in Colombia.
